Auf ihrem zweiten Album Cosmic Serpents<\/em>, \"\"<\/a>das am 27.03.2015 bei Crammed Discs ver\u00f6ffentlicht wird, lockt die pantropische \u201aFuture Bass\u2018-Band SKIP&DIE ihr Publikum mit unwiderstehlichen Rhythmen und Beats, akustischen Instrumenten, Field Recordings und abgefahrenen Synthesizern in eine wahrhaft globale Musikwelt, in eine poetische Klangcollage, die sich mit Themen wie Verg\u00e4nglichkeit, und der Idee besch\u00e4ftigt, dass unsere gemeinsame DNA sich wie eine kosmische Schlange durch die Ewigkeit windet. <\/p>\n

Schon die beeindruckende Liste an L\u00e4ndern, in denen die Aufnahmen f\u00fcr das neue Album entstanden, ist ein starker Hinweis auf die noch breitere und buntere Palette an Musikgenres und Einfl\u00fcssen, die in das neue Album eingeflossen ist: Brasilien, \u00c4gypten, Argentinien, Kolumbien, La R\u00e9union, S\u00fcdafrika, Portugal und die Niederlande sind darunter und Musikstile wie Digital Cumbia, kreolischer Maloya, Rasterinha und Electro-Chaabi stehen neben Dub, Footwork und psychedelischem Rock. <\/p>\n

SKIP&DIE besteht aus der in S\u00fcdafrika geborenen S\u00e4ngerin, Songwriterin und bildenden K\u00fcnstlerin Catarina Aim\u00e9e Dahms aka Cata Pirata, dem Produzenten Jori Collignon an Keys und FX, Gino Bombrini (Percussion und Gitarre) und Daniel Rose (Gitarre und Streicher).<\/p>\n

Wir schon beim Vorg\u00e4ngeralbum Riots In The Jungle<\/em> hat sich die Band auf ihrem zweiten Werk G\u00e4ste aus der ganzen Welt zu den Aufnahmen eingeladen: neben der Band Lindigo von der Insel La R\u00e9union sind Islam Chipsy aus Kairo, DJ Gorki von Bonde do Role aus Brasilien und der gro\u00dfartige argentinische Elektronikmusiker Pedro Canale (Chancha Via Circuito) auf Cosmic Serpents<\/em> zu h\u00f6ren. <\/p>\n

Mit einer zweij\u00e4hrigen Tournee zum letzten Album im R\u00fccken, darunter gefeierte Auftritte beim Reeperbahn Festival, S\u00f3nar, Great Escape, Eurosonic, Sziget, Paleo und viele Clubshows, geht die Band auch 2015 wieder auf eine lange Tournee, die mit zwei weiteren Auftritten beim Eurosonic Festival Festival startet. Intro.de<\/em> schrieb \u00fcber einen Auftritt der Band: „Was\u2026 nach dem Verlassen der B\u00fchne \u00fcber sieben Minuten vom dankbaren Publikum an Gepfeife und Gekreische durch den Bogen hallt, ist Beweis genug, dass Skip & Die heute wahnsinniges abgeliefert haben.“ <\/p>\n

SKIP&DIE on Cosmic Serpents in 5 questions:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Why is South America such a big influence on the album?
\nGino: Amongst other things, we were really impressed by the passion people there have for music. They\u2019re familiar with almost every music genre, can identify any musical instrument, everyone can dance \u2013 and they assume everyone else can dance too, at least until they\u2019ve seen me trying to dance samba for five minutes. It\u2019s incredible.<\/p>\n

2. You\u2019ve established a reputation for sensational live shows. Can we expect more of the same on Cosmic Serpents<\/em>?
\nCata: Performing and recording are two very distinct experiences. Making the album is an intense internal experience for us personally as artists, musicians and people. We put ourselves in a studio and isolate ourselves from the outside world to really go into the deeper layers of our selves. The live shows are a group experience where we can share all the energies and mysteries that we\u2019ve pondered upon. We don\u2019t play a lot of the songs on the previous album live because they don\u2019t do what we want to achieve with our shows. What excites us about performing is to connect as a band and connect with our audience \u2013 and that is the same on the records too. <\/p>\n

3. What have Gino and Daniel brought to the band?
\nJori: I really feel like we\u2019ve found a great balance with the four of us. It\u2019s bit a like a family: Daniel\u2019s the steady one who balances out the extremes and Gino\u2019s the wild child who we lose all the time, but comes back with a new percussion instrument and friends.<\/p>\n

Daniel: I have to say that it feels really natural. I\u2019ve always made music with friends. One day I was just asked to come along and play a bit of sitar, and suddenly I was in the band. <\/p>\n

Gino: Yeah, what happened exactly? <\/p>\n

4. What\u2019s the difference between the first album and this one?
\nCata: This album took us to a new spiritual level. Riots in the Jungle was all about extremes: the light versus the dark, yin and yang, two separate forces we tried to unite in one record. Now we see those two extremes intertwining like parts of the same DNA strand: they\u2019re still opposite, but they need each other to survive. <\/p>\n

5. What\u2019s next for Skip&Die?
\nJori: We\u2019re dreamers, so we don\u2019t think in terms of the next album or the next tour. We\u2019re concerned with the bigger picture, how the four of us can develop creatively, by working together but also giving space to everyone\u2019s individual talent and skills and supporting each other in being nice people!<\/p>\n
