Mit unb\u00e4ndiger Phantasie und k\u00fcnstlerisch unberechenbar \u2013 \"\"<\/a> so kennt man die brasilianische Musikerin Cibelle. F\u00fcr ihr viertes Album \u2206Unbinding\u2206<\/em>, das am 04.10.2013 bei Crammed Discs im Vertrieb von Indigo (CD) und PIAS (digital) ver\u00f6ffentlicht wird, arbeitete sie mit dem mysteri\u00f6sen britischen Produzenten Klose zusammen, und reiste mit retrofuturistischen Dance-Elementen, R\u2019n\u2019B Garagenpop und einem noch nie geh\u00f6rten Zweig abstrakter Electronica voller toller Hooks im Handgep\u00e4ck zur\u00fcck zu ihren musikalischen Wurzeln. <\/p>\n

Cibelle wurde in S\u00e3o Paulo geboren, lebt aber seit 11 Jahren in London. Ihre drei Vorg\u00e4ngeralben sind ganz bewusst alle unterschiedlich von dem jeweils vorherigen und haben sie zu einer der spannendsten Pers\u00f6nlichkeiten in der Musikszene der letzten Jahre werden lassen. Ihr kreativer Output inspiriert nicht nur viele junge K\u00fcnstler und Bands \u2013 wie sie auf ihrem neuen Album \u2206Unbinding\u2206<\/em> beweist, ist Cibelle dem Zeitgeist dabei auch immer voraus. <\/p>\n

In drei Statements, die es auf Anfrage auch in deutscher \u00dcbersetzung gibt, erkl\u00e4ren Cibelle und Klose ihre Herangehensweise an das Album:<\/p>\n

We wanted to explore silence as thoroughly as rhythm and to explore alternative approaches to song structure. To create a stark, impersonal yet human world replete with contrast and contradiction. Cibelle & Klose<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dance music brings people together, to unbind means to let go. Let go of division: on the dancefloor and on the street, we move as one. These bones are nothing, the secret is inside your flow with the peace in your thoughts, listening to the silence within. This is for change, letting go for change to come about.<\/p>\n

Lyrically, I started from my own most earthly processes: letting go, not getting attached to human relations and all types of love, as they happen, fade away and transform. Realizing how one’s actions are reflected in one’s surroundings, and moving towards the state of a vessel, a mere messenger for these informations encoded in silence, and on to being an instigator for these processes all around, by surrendering to the sounds to facilitate an inward journey to that place where we are all one. It’s all about silence, to shake up to wake up. Cibelle<\/strong><\/p>\n

I experimented with formant pitching and other extreme forms of vocal processing. Sonically, there is an emphasis on texture and a severe juxtaposition of wet and dry. I felt that Cibelle’s vocal performances as a live artist were far more impressive than anything she had recorded and wanted to do justice to her voice by capturing uninhibited performances via a luxurious signal chain. I also deliberately sought to preserve and advertise the weakness in the music’s rendering to bind the listener to the artist in the same way as a genuine loving relationship elicits tenderness based primarily on the appreciation of imperfection.
